Top Ten Tuesday

This meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. The topic is a freebie this week, so I'm doing:

Top Ten Evillest Cliffhangers

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)

1. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games #2) - I read the Hunger Games back when I was first just starting to read, so this book with pretty much my first ever cliffhanger, and let me tell you, I did NOT like it.

The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, #3)

2. The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa (The Iron Fey #3) - This series was originally only supposed to have three books, but if she had left it like that, I would have been severely heartbroken.

Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)

3. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (Delirium #2) - I think I shrieked out loud at the very end of the book. Though I still haven't read the third one...

A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2)

4. A Million Suns by Beth Revis (Across the Universe #2) - Another evil author evilly ending a book just as we were getting to the good stuff.

 Dreamfever (Fever, #4)

5. Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning (Fever #4) - Don't even get me started on this one. You'll wish you hadn't.

Opal (Lux, #3)

6. Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #3) - I can't wait for Origin to come out; Daemon and Katie's story must end happily.

The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1)

7. The Madman's Daughter by Megan Sheperd (The Madman's Daughter #1) - Well, maybe it's not exactly a cliffhanger, but it also kind of is. So there.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

8. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me #2) - Okay, this also isn't really a cliffhanger, but it does end frustratingly in the middle of a scene.

Timeless (Timeless, #1)

9. Timeless by Alexandra Monir (Timeless #2) - I can't believe I still haven't picked up Timekeeper yet, especially after how this one ended...

Fever (The Chemical Garden, #2)

10. Fever by Lauren DeStefano (Chemical Garden #2) - Don't you hate those cliffhangers when a certain person suddenly shows up at the last minute?

  1. Ohhh, I've read some of these! Catching Fire was definitely a cliffhanger; fortunately, I read not long before Mockingjay came out, so it wasn't too bad. I liked the ending of A Million Suns because we didn't quite what was to come when they all landed. Pandemonium--ugh, all those books end on cliffhangers! And The Madman's Daughter--AHH! I threw my book was just all like WOW. I LOVED Unravel Me; I want those last few chapters from Warner's POV SO BAD; they were amazing! Great list! Thanks for sharing and stopping by!

    1. You're lucky about CF; I just couldn't believe Collins would end it like that. I read it right after it came out, so I had a whole year ahead of me. Same goes for Unravel Me - I want those chapters so much, too! But Mafi said somewhere that she was saving lots of steaminess for book three. :)

  2. DEATH to clifhangers! I hate those nasty little mean tortures of poor bookworms. :D Thank god I read Hunger games when all books were published. :)

    1. I'm beginning to think I should stay away from all series until all the books are published, lol. You're welcome!

  3. The evil cliffhanger! Mwahahahaha! I kind of hate/love them. I love them if the next book is out. I hate them if I have to wait a year to find out what the freak happened.

I think I might have had a minor heart attack when I read Catching Fire. It was all I could do to not chuck the book out the window. Even more sad is that I hated Mockingjay. So...I still feel like I'm at the end of Catching Fire. Waiting to find out what "really" happened.

    1. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews of Mockingjay, and though I really liked it personally, I disliked how Collins ended the love triangle. Thanks for stopping by. :)

  4. I share your feelings about the cliffhangers of Catching Fire, Dreamfever and Unravel Me! It's nerve-wrenching and it usually makes me feel depressed to the point where I have to watch Glee :D The Madman's Daughter was a semi-decent read and while I'll probably read the next book, I'm not sure if I'm excited about it... The story was great, though. Dr. Moreau was evil.

    Great list!

    1. I loved the creepy feel to tMD. Although, the protagonist did concentrate a little much on the romance when there were scary monsters prowling around, lol. Cliffhangers....are just mean. Thanks for commenting.

  5. Catching Fire is the epitome of an evil cliffhanger. And the next one that was just as bad (for me, anyway) was Pandemonium. I wanted to die at the end of both of those. I haven't read the rest of your list (I have Shatter Me and Unravel Me both on my shelf at home), but at least I have a heads up for when I do! :)

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. You have to read Shatter Me! It's amazing. The characters are just . . . wow. Catching Fire remains my top example of an evil cliffhanger ;).

    2. I just may pick that one up next, then. :)

  6. Ugh, Catching Fire was awful!! My sister made me read the books quite some time before Mockingjay came out, and I was very upset that I didn't wait longer, lol.

Seeing Opal on here makes me a little bit terrified... I still haven't picked it up yet. =S

    Great Top Ten!! :)

    1. Nothing worse than having to wait a year for the next book in your favorite series...*sigh*.

Opal was really good, despite the cliffhanger. ;)

  7. I totally agree with Pandemonium and A Million Suns!

  8. My gosh Pandemonium killed me. With Catching Fire, I thankfully didn't read it until Mockingjay were out. Someone had told me to make sure I had Mockingjay when I started Catching Fire. Thank goodness, or I may have died. And I still haven't read The Iron Knight so I am still living in the pain of that cliffhanger during Iron Queen.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I cried at the end of The Iron Queen...and then waited a year for The Iron Knight. Now I am awaiting The Iron Traitor, lol. :)

  10. Cliffhangers are the evilest things ever!!! That's why I sometimes hold out a book for a while until the sequel comes out. I loved The Fever Series but the endings killed me.

  11. I wanted to throw my copy of Pandemonium across the room haha. That cliffhanger was terrible! I just bought requiem so hopefully I can read it soon. Have you read it yet? Thanks for stopping by my TTT.

    1. You're welcome! No, I've seen way too many mixed reviews about Requiem over the ending. I own it, so I'll read it, but I'm scared to right now. ;)

  12. Ahhh cliffhangers I love them and I hate them. Pandemonium was EVIL. i still need to read Requiem too, but I'm kinda terrified. Iron Queen was another killer. I started Iron Knight immediately and stayed up all night to finish it after lol. Thanks for stopping by my TTT

    1. The Iron Queen made me cry; both because of the cliffhanger and the fact that I had to wait a year. ;) Lauren Oliver is an evil, evil woman to end a book like that.
