Top Ten Tuesday - Beach Reads
This is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Links go to Goodreads. This week, the topic is:
Top Ten Best Beach Reads
1. Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen - This author is really good at doing light, fluffy stuff.
2. Poison by Bridget Zinn - Cute, fun and zany characters make this a fun, quick read.
3. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - An absolutely gorgeous book, dampened only by the ending.
4. All Unquiet Things by Anna Jarzab - Perfect murder mystery to read under the sun.
5. Love and Other Perishable Items by Laura Buzo - I loved this novel earlier this year; it ended very realistically.
6. Pivot Point by Kasie West - Though this is paranormal, it actually has a very humorous atmosphere.
7. Ten by Getchen McNeil - Okay, maybe I like a little suspense in my beach reads. Plus, it does take place on an island.
8. Bared To You by Sylvia Day - (warning: this is most definitely an adult novel) - Tortured characters, awesome love scenes, well-crafted story...what more could you ask for?
9. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger - I had issues with this book, but overall I really enjoyed it.
10. Of Poseidon by Anna Banks - It's about mermaids! What's more beachy than that?

Thanks for the follow! I forget books to add to my lists all the time sadly, lol.
DeleteI think Sarah Dessen is great at writing beach reads. Lock and Key is one of my favourites by her.
ReplyDeleteI need to read Of Posiedon - I've heard great things. And I do love mermaids...
Of Poseidon is definitely worth checking out if you like under water folk. ;)
Deletepivot point is sitting on my shelf I need to get to it asap
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
I highly recommend it! The author has another book coming out in July called The Distance Between Us, and I am very excited for it. :D
DeleteOoh lots of great summer reads! I've been eyeing Pivot Point & Love and other perishable items. Eleanor & Park, The Duff and Bared to You are faves of mine too.
ReplyDeleteHappy summer reading :)
Thanks! Both of those you mentioned on your TBR list are really good. :D
DeleteNice list, although I don't think I could bring myself to read an author like Sylvia Day on a public beach lol. And I'm not partial to murder books, but if I was a crowded sunny beach would be the ONLY place I'd read them, lol!
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah, you're right. I wouldn't read the other version of the cover, the one with the half naked woman on it. Ten actually did get pretty creepy at times...but then, I get scared really easily, so. *shrug* :)
DeleteGreat top ten! I also have Of Poseidon on my list:)

Thanks! It's a great read, isn't it?
DeleteOf Poseidon's on my list too! :) And I agree with Pivot Point, it is a really good beach read. Haven't read Eleanor & Park yet, but I'm dying to!

Eleanor & Park is an awesome book for anyone who likes contemporary, I think. :D
DeleteI ALMOST put Love and Other Perishable Items on my list!! All Unquiet Things and Ten look like books I would LOVE to read on the beach... I like suspense and mystery for beach books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My TTT
Me, too! Fluffy contemporary really isn't my thing.
DeleteI almost put Ten on my list, and I love Sarah Dessen's books, Of Poseidon, and Eleanor & Park! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
You're welcome! Good books all around. :)
DeleteI absolutely love the Crossfire series but my list covered books I read at the beach so...I couldn't include that one. I haven't heard of the others but the covers are cool. I've seen "Eleanor and Park" going around at the library.

Lol, well I don't actually read on the beach myself. I don't spend that much time in the sun at all, actually. I burn really easily. :/
DeleteI loved Pivot Point and I really have to read Duff. Maybe this summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
The DUFF is really interesting! I hope you get to it sometime.
DeleteOh, now I really want to reread THE DUFF! POISON is a great pick for summer too!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read TEN and ELEANOR & PARK!
Great list! :)
Thanks! Poison was super cute. I highly recommend Ten and Eleanor & Park!
DeleteI'm one of the, ugh, three people in the world who haven't read any Sarah Dessen book. I mean, The Truth About Forever is looking at me, but I never get around reading it! I'm the worst.
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about Poseidon, maye I should give it a try...
It's okay, I have a ton of things I know I should have read by now. XD. Of Poseidon is great if you like mer-people. ;)
DeleteGreat list! I'll have to look into Love and Other Perishable Items, All Unquiet Things, and Ten.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGreat list!!!And there really isn't anything more beachy than a mermaid book :D. and I really want to read poison soon.

Poison was great. :D
DeleteAwesome list! I agree about Eleanor & Park - the ending was a little bittersweet, but I loved it overall. And I think I'm gonna have to check out All Unquiet Things... creepy cover, but it sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT :)
Thanks! I really disliked the ending because I wanted it to be left less open than that, but yeah, it was still an incredible book. I read All Unquiet Things a long time ago, but I remember really loving it!
DeleteLove Sarah Dessen. And Pivot Point and Eleanor & Park are both great books! I've been meaning to read Poison for a while. I keep hearing good things about it. Great list!
ReplyDeletePoison was a little more middle grade-ish than I was expecting, but it was great for a laugh. :D
DeleteGreat list! I love Sarah Dessen! And let me know when you read The Summer I Turned Pretty! It is definitely one of my very favorite books. Thanks for stopping by my TTT! :) New follower via Bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteI will! I don't know when it'll happen, but we'll see. Thanks for the follow! :D
DeleteI haven't ever read ANY of Sarah Dessen's books, so I need to get on that! LOVED Eleanor & Park and I agree, it would be a good beach read! I actually totally contemplated putting Ten on my list. It was a great murders mystery, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT list earlier!
Dessen's writing is very comforting once you're used to it - all her books have the same feel to them, if you know what I mean. Ten was an awesome mystery - I totally didn't see the ending coming!
DeleteGood picks - I like a little mystery and murder and mayhem in my beach reads too!
ReplyDeleteSarah
Thanks! Those are my type of books. <3
DeleteYes! Second list today that I've read everything on. Oh, wait. Never mind. I haven't read 'All Unquiet things', yet. Wasn't 'Of Poseidon' a phenomenal read?! <3 I put the sequel on my list. :DD
ReplyDeleteHere's my TT
Yes! It was awesome. Looking forward to Of Triton. All Unquiet Things was great!
DeleteSylvia Day! Read about hot guys and have visuals to go with it at the beach! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by!
Ha! Yeah, I loved Bared To You. Third book in the series is the best to me so far, though!
DeleteI've been seeing Sarah Dessen's books on a lot of lists. I have only read two of her books. I really need to change that. I am glad to see you added Pivot Point to your list. I loved that book.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, I'm a new follower!
I've only read 3, I believe. She has a lot of books out, huh? Thanks for the follow!
