Top Ten Tuesday: 2013 Favorites

This meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Links go to Goodreads. This week, the topic is:

Top Ten Books You've Read So Far in 2013

So far I've read about 48 books this year, which isn't too bad, if I do say so myself. :)

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

1. Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi - This is my absolute favorite so far this year. I love how passionate the characters are, and I love the unique writing. I am going crazy waiting for the third installment.

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

2. Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky #2) by Veronica Rossi - Another amazing sequel to an awesome debut novel.

Eleanor & Park

3. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - I hated the ending of this, admittedly, but everything else was stunningly perfect.

Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)

4. Siege and Storm (The Grisha #2) by Leigh Bardugo - Yet another series with incredible characters and world-building.

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2)

5. The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2) by Julie Kagawa - The romance in this book does drive me crazy, but Kagawa is a master storyteller.

The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1)

6. The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave #1) by Rick Yancey - I was so afraid this one wouldn't live up to the hype, but it truly did.

The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1)

7. The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter #1) by Megan Sheperd - I loved the dark tone of the writing and the creepy mystery.

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2)

8. Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2) by Robin LaFevers - This was somehow even better than Grave Mercy.

Game (Jasper Dent #2)

9. Game (Jasper Dent #2) by Barry Lyga - This book was awesome, except the author totally forgot to write an ending.

Splintered (Splintered, #1)

10. Splintered (Splintered #1) by A.G. Howard - The author did an awesome job with Wonderland, seriously.

Honorable Mentions: Out of The Easy by Ruta Sepetys, Everbound by Brodi Ashton, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

  1. Gah, Splintered was SO CLOSE to being on my list this week! Loved that book. I reeeally need to read The Madman's Daughter and Grave Mercy, and I haven't heard of The Game, but all the rest are ones I really enjoyed, too! Great picks!

Thanks for stopping by my TTT :)

    1. Lol, that's why I had the honorable mentions, for books that were THIS CLOSE. ;) Game is actually the sequel to I Hunt Killers, so I'd check that one out first. Thanks!

  4. Eleanor & Park is high on my to-read summer list. I have it checked out from the library at the moment, but I'm not sure I'll get around to read it. Siege & Storm would have been a great way to start my summer vacation, but it was too tempting to hold off until after my finals. I'm delving in for a re-read pretty soon.

    Happy reading (:

  6. LOVE THIS LIST SO MUCH!!! I haven't read Shatter Me and I heard so many fantastic reviews for it so I'll have to bump it up the TBR. I have Through the Ever Night, The Immortal Rules and Shadow and Bone on my list, and seeing The Eternity Cure + Siege and Storm up on your list makes me eager to just grab them up and start reading :D

  31. Great list!!I love Tahereh Mafi's writing style. And to make it better She said herself that she wanted to do the Cross-out-words thing less and less in each book. To show Juliette getting more sane and stronger threw out the series. Which I thought was brilliant!

    1. I saw that, too! Shatter Me was the weirdest so far with writing, but I noticed the crossed out lines and the metaphors letting up a bit in Unravel Me. I also thing it's an excellent way to show she's regaining all her sanity. Did you know the Shatter Me #3 blurb just got put up? It's great!!!

  35. I really like the concept behind Splintered so I'm planning on getting to it this summer. (Of course if you know me, you know that most of my plans are usually (a) forgotten about, or (b) ditched. I'm making sure both of these don't happen with Splintered!) I just bought The 5th Wave this week and I'm super happy because I've heard it was amazing! So excited to read it!

    Awesome list, Becca! :)
