Top Ten Tuesday

This meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Links go to Goodreads. Topic this week is:

Top Ten Books I Recommend The Most:

1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - Let's face it, this book had to be on this list somewhere. I am forever spreading my hunger games love to the world.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1)

2. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - Hands down one of my favorite books ever. Perfect balance of soul-crushing sadness and humor.

The Fault in Our Stars

3. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa - Really, it's the series I'm recommending. The first one isn't the best, but if you push through to the last two, you can see why it's so incredible.

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)

4. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi - Very unique and interesting writing style, plus characters you just love, love, love.

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

5. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - Best. High. Fantasy. Ever.

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)

6. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder - I loved this so much more than I ever expected to.

Poison Study (Study, #1)

7. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak - This the only book I have ever cried really hard over.

The Book Thief

8. Cinder by Marissa Meyer - This will probably always be the most creative fairy tale retelling ever.

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

9. The Host by Stephenie Meyer - It's better written than Twilight, and the story of family and friendship is actually pretty amazing.

The Host (The Host, #1)

10. The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna - Honestly, I can't talk about this book enough.

The Lost Girl

  2. Second time I've seen one of Maria Snyder's books tonight! They must be awesome. I think I have a copy on my reader that I should probably read ASAP, because it sounds amazing. I'm in a need of a good fantasy novel, and Poison Study sounds really original.

Ugh Cinder is gorgeous. I can't even comprehend why I love it so much, only that I do.

    1. Maria V. Snyder has an awesome imagination, I love all her books, though I still need to get to the second Healer. Her Study series is her best, though, I think. :) And yes, Cinder is just great. Thanks for commenting.

  3. Sigh. I cried really hard over The Book Thief too. Then I ran out and told everyone about it. Come to think of it, the same thing happened with TFIOS. I just got Shatter Me and I'm looking forward to reading it!

    1. Shadow and Bone has a really well thought out world and complex, compelling characters. Plus it has a map! I love those in my high fantasy novels. :)

  5. I have heard so much effusive praise for the writing style in Shatter Me and The Book Thief and I therefore must read them. Soon. And yay for The Hunger Games and The Fault in our Stars! Those books are so popular and rightfully so.

    1. Shatter Me's writing style is very different, and I've seen many different opinions about it, but to me it's like poetry. Yeah, the list would not be complete without The Hunger Games. :p

  6. What a great list! I also included the Iron Fey series on mine - it's one of my all-time favorites. Shatter Me and Poison Study both made my mental honorable mention list - both those series are so great!

  7. I should probably get around to reading The Hunger Games soon. I really enjoyed the movie. I thought Jennifer Lawrence was an awesome Katniss. And yay for including The Book Thief. It's such a great book. I've seen so many people include Cinder on their lists.

    1. The movie version of the Hunger Games was everything I wanted it to be, but the book IS better. Did you know their filming some of the sequel in Hawaii? It's going to be gorgeous. <3
