Top Ten Tuesday

This meme is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week, the topic is:

Top Ten Things To Read When You Need Something Light and Fun

Links go to Goodreads. Now, admittedly I don't read things classified as "light and fun" that often (I'm more of a fan of the darker stuff.) So I did a bit of head-scratching on this list, for sure.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - When I saw this week's list title, this is the first book that popped into my head.

Tuesdays at the Castle (Castle Glower #1)

2. Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George - Honestly, I think that maybe 85% of middle grade books could be considering light, but this was one I enjoyed a lot in particular.

Dealing with Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #1)

3. Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede - I've only read the first book in this series, but I loved it as a kid.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood, #1)

4. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares - The movies of these are actually just as good as the books, in my opinion.

Inkheart (Inkworld, #1)

5. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - This list is turning into books I liked when I was younger.

Just Listen

6. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen - Really, I could have put any of her books on here (except maybe Dreamland).

Going Too Far

7. Going too Far by Jennifer Echols - Maaaaybe there were some darker themes tot this, but I still got that "light read" feel when I was done.

Breadcrumbs

8. Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu - I really should re-read this at some point, I really enjoyed it.

My Life Next Door

9. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick - *sigh* I adore Samantha and Jace.

Eleanor & Park

10. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - Funning + touching = awesome.

  6. Yes to Anna and the French Kiss and My Life Next Door! ;D
I was thinking of putting Going Too Far on my list, but it wasn't that light for me. :P
    Anyways, great list!
Thanks for stopping by my TTT! (:

    1. Thanks! Lol, most contemporary books I read I think of as "light", what with all the death and blood in fantasy.

    1. That is a very wise decision. ;) I haven't read Lola and the Boy Next Door yet, but I'm hoping it's just as good.

  8. Sad but true fact: I have never ever read a Sarah Dessen book. I own most of them, though, haha. I also REALLY want to read My Life Next Door—it looks wonderful, and perfect for summer reading.

    1. It really is! Buying and not reading books for a very long time? Yeah, I do it all the time, lol. Sarah Dessen's stuff fits this topic very well. :)

  9. Love some of your choices! I loved Going Too Far too and even though it does explore more, there's still so many laugh out loud moments - like "Every time you show me a dead body, I'm having sex with Eric".

  11. This reminds me that I REALLY need to check out Anna and Eleanor & Park soon! I can't count the number of times I've seen positive reviews from them both. Glad you found them light and cute, too. I know there are some days I really need cheering up. Great list, Becca!

    1. Eleanor & Park does have a few serious moments, but in between it's very amusing. I hope they both make you laugh when you pick them up. Thanks!

  12. Oh, I've actually read one of these! The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! Of course, it's been forever so I barely remember anything about it, but I guess I could've added that to my list. There are a couple others on here (Eleanor & Park, Anna and the French Kiss) that I'm interested in reading, even though I prefer darker books, but we'll see if that ever happens ;) Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
